Moonbane
1989 · Bantam
On a freezing winter evening, poet and amateur astronomer Jason Blake and his son Richie watch a meteor shower from their farmhouse field. Several glowing capsules alter course and crash nearby; one splits open and releases a vicious lupine creature that mauls Richie. Within hours the boy is transforming, and identical meteors are breaching across the globe. With civilization collapsing, Blake crosses the American wasteland to Kramer Air Force Base, where surviving scientists prepare to deliver a nuclear payload to the Moon itself.
