Underground

2013 · Crossroad Press

In 1992, riding the acclaim of Skeletons, Bantam contracted Sarrantonio to write a follow-up titled Underground. When Bantam shut down its horror imprint, the completed manuscript vanished into publishing limbo and became a legendary lost book for two decades. Resurrected by Crossroad Press and Cemetery Dance, it is a hallucinatory descent into the underworld following an eccentric cast — the scholar Dr. Foostis, the unhinged Malice in Wonderland — on an expedition into the depths of the earth.

A note on availability

Al Sarrantonio died on January 27, 2025. Many of his print editions are long out of print, and the editions we can point readers to today are digital. Where a title has an active ebook or audiobook, the link above goes directly to it. Everything else on this page exists as a record of the book as it was published.
